Teaching Math with Computers

This is a feature at TA, that shares TED talks that can help you be a better educator. These posts will be archived on the Philosophy page.  The general focus is Education but are not limited to that. They can include other things as well.

Conrad discusses the issue of a declining interest in Math while the use of math in our lives and society is on the increase. The topic of the discussion is centered around computers and the use of math. He attempts to debunk common misconceptions about the use of computers while solving math problems.

Application: I think that Conrad Wolfram is on to an important idea about the way we teach math. Focusing our attention on the purpose for which we are teaching the subject in the fist place is always important. Using computers to teach math would also increase engagement.
